Thousands use virtual Visita Iglesia, site to stream Seven Last Words

Some 10,000 Filipino Catholics made use of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines'  online Visita Iglesia site on Maundy Thursday. As of 4:35 a.m. Friday, the visitor counter on the site showed 232,285 visitors, 10,017 more than some 222,268 as of late Wednesday night, when the site came online. For Friday, the CBCP said it will stream the "Siete Palabras" from Quiapo Church at noon of Good Friday.

"Siete Palabras" is the recitation of the Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ as He was on the cross. The CBCP Visita Iglesia site was created for overseas Filipino workers and Filipino Catholics who cannot physically take part in the traditional Visita Iglesia this year. It includes a virtual tour of churches in the Philippines, and 360-degree views of at least 44 churches nationwide. Aside from the virtual tour, the site also features Lenten and Holy Week catechesis, the Way of the Cross, and the Pasyon. It also features the Papal Lent message of Pope Francis, along with podcasts of the Word of Life. — DVM, GMA News
