Per-window private browsing, and at least 11 security fixes highlight the updates Mozilla has made to the latest version of its Firefox browser.
Mozilla said version 20 of its open-source browser, which it released April 2, also features continued performance improvements.
The per-window private browsing allows users to switch from normal to private use, while Firefox 20 also allows users to close plugins that hang.
Security vendor Sophos noted that of the 11 vulnerabilities patched in the latest version, three were deemed "critical," four "high," and four "moderate."
But Sophos' Paul Ducklin noted some may consider the ability to close hanging plugins without the browser itself crashing is "merely overdue."
"If you use Private Browsing all the time, your 'delete history on exit' settings are effectively maximized, because Firefox doesn't keep any history as you browse," Ducklin said.
"So there you have it: new version, some security improvements, no known vices," he added. — TJD, GMA News
