Japanese students invent 'girlfriend' coat that gives hugs
It may not give lonely people the "kiss-pirin" but this invention is capable of giving them a "yakapsule" (therapeutic hug). A group of students from Tsukuba, Japan has invented a "girlfriend coat" that can hug people like only an imaginary "anime-sounding" girlfriend can. The device, dubbed "Riajyuu Coat," gets its name from the Japanese slang "riajyuu" meaning "someone who is pleased with their life outside the Internet," Kotaku.com said. Kotaku.com added "riajyuu" is a mix of the words "riaru" meaning "real", and "jyuujitsu" meaning "satisfactory" or "complete." A report on Mashable quoted hardware engineer Hikaru Sugiura as saying in a YouTube video that the device's concept is "everyone can get the feeling [of] having a girlfriend." Bad news for lonely people, however: the device is not available in stores, at least for now. — LBG, GMA News
