While it has yet to come out with a promised update for its Windows 8 platform, Microsoft has started recruiting talent to work on the next generation of its Windows and Windows Phone operating systems, a Microsoft-oriented blog site reported.
The MSFT Kitchen blog cited the LinkedIn profile of a Microsoft software engineer testing "Windows 9 OS on Nokia, HTC and Qualcomm devices."
It also cited a LinkedIn post of an iSoftStone employee mentioning a project to deploy an app from Microsoft Store to Windows Phone 9.
MSFT Kitchen noted iSoftStone is a Microsoft Gold partner, the blog noted.
The ads are coming out at a time Microsoft is still working on Windows Blue, the update for Windows 8 expected to land this year.
"Don’t confuse Windows Blue – the coming update to Windows 8 that will land this year – with Windows 9. They are distinct," tech site The Next Web said.
The MSFT Kitchen post cited a job ad for a Bing Software Development Engineer that "mentioned" Windows 9 and Internet Explorer 11.
In the ad, the blog said Microsoft is using "cutting-edge technologies" to deliver "great products" in areas "including Windows 9, IE11 services integration, touch friendly devices including iPad and more."
"So, there it is: mention of Windows 9 straight from Microsoft," the blog said. — TJD, GMA News
