Revoltech Iron Man Mark I figure coming August 2013

With Iron Man 3 blasting into theatres like one of Tony Stark’s repulsor beams, Revoltech, the Japanese ultra-poseable collectible toys, has taken this opportunity to treat fans by taking them back to the movie franchise’s roots with the release of a 6 inch Iron Man Mark I action figure.

The figure is named Sci-Fi Revoltech #045 Iron Man Mark I, according to toy websites Marvelous NewsAction Figure Fury, and Toy Ark

Those who have been with the series from the beginning will immediately recognize Iron Man Mark I —the dull silver, steampunk-looking armor that Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark was forced to create from piles of junk to escape his prison.

The figure is extremely detailed, down to Stark’s desperately rushed and sloppy welding fusing the armor’s disparate parts, the various gears and rivets, and the nicks and dents on the steel. The paint application gives the plastic armor a dull sheen, giving the illusion of old metal, which is perfect for the Mark I suit. There is even “dust” and “corrosion” on the arms, legs and feet.

As can be expected from Revoltech, the figure features several points of articulation —at least 19,including the neck, elbows, and knees, as can be seen encircled in red and blue in this image.

This, of course, allows for a wide array of poses, from the super heroic to the utterly ridiculous.

The figure also comes with a number of accessories, one being a tongue of fire that can be attached to the arm, flamethrower-style.

Revoltech —short for “Revolver Technology”— is a regularly-produced series of figures created by the Japanese company, Kaiyodo. Revoltech has introduced other movie tie-in products before, including Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, Jason Vorhees of Friday the 13th fame, and even other Iron Man figures.

But this is the first time Kaiyodo —or any other company, for that matter— has created such an incredibly-detailed and poseable Mark I armor at this 6in scale.

The figure is already up for preorder on many toy websites, with a current price ranging from $48 to $55. Expect Sci-Fi Revoltech #045 Iron Man Mark I to appear in local specialty toy stores soon. — TJD, GMA News
