Google on Wednesday paid tribute to graphic designer Saul Bass with quite a tribute – an animated doodle showing his works including movie title sequences and logos.

Clicking on play would show an animation reminiscent of some of Bass' works, even as a note indicates Bass, who died on April 25, 1996, would have turned 93 on May 8.

"The Saul Bass Google Doodle is very representative of Saul Bass work and he would have likely appreciated being honored like this today," remarked 3D Car Shows.

It added visitors who watch the doodle can see "some of the methods invented for film titles by Saul Bass."

"The Graphic styles in the doodle is very similar to his finest work which breathed fresh air into the usual boring effects film titles and introductions," it added.

Bass gained respect as a film producer, graphic designer and corporate logo designer.

Some of his works include the logos of the Girl Scouts of the USA, United Airlines, and US Postage.

He was also credited for the logo of AT&T Corp. in 1969 and the redesign in 1983.

Also, he was credited for work on Alfred Hitchcock's films, including North by Northwest, Vertigo, and Psycho. — LBG, GMA News
