Light up the Bat-Signal and rejoice Bat-Fans, for good news has come to those looking forward to the next installment of the Batman Arkham games! According to Batman fansite Arkhamverse, legendary Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy has confirmed that he’ll be donning the cape and cowl after all, and will be playing The Dark Knight once more in a video game that’s most likely “Batman: Arkham Origins”!
The report specifies that the actor, who has played the character for over 20 years and has been called the “Voice of Batman” by fans worldwide, mentioned during a Q&A Panel Discussion at the Dallas Comic-Con that he has been working on the “Next Arkham Game” for the past “nine or ten months”, leading many to speculate that he’s referring to “Arkham Origins”.

Conroy’s return is a breath of fresh air, considering he’s been a constant presence for the Arkham Games and adds an air of consistency and familiarity to boot. He first voiced Batman in the classic 1992 TV animated serial “Batman: The Animated Series”, and went on to reprise the character in several other media based on the DC Universe, including the popular Justice League animated series and several Batman video games.
Of course, Conroy’s foray in the Arkham video game universe began with the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009, which was followed by its equally popular sequel Batman: Arkham City in 2011. Both games also featured his fellow BTAS voice actor Mark “Luke Sykwalker” Hamill, who would also reprise his signature role of Batman’s eternal nemesis and Clown Prince of Crime himself, The Joker.

Unlike the previous two games, Arkham Origins isn’t being developed by Rocksteady Studios. Warner Bros. Games Montreal is the new developer behind the game, and has set it as a prequel where players control a young and more inexperienced Batman who battles criminals and assassins sent to kill him during Christmas Eve in Gotham City.
With the game seeing release in a matter of months, the consensus is that Conroy is indeed referring to the new Arkham game. If true, it contradicts an earlier story that NAG Magazine reported earlier, where Conroy wasn’t returning to voice his signature role for Arkham Origins and WB Games Montreal looking for a new actor to voice the Caped Crusader during his early days of crime fighting.
