Batman: Arkham Origins new trailer, game details surface
By Tim G. Villasor
Promising more information and details after delivering that short but sweet teaser trailer a few days ago, Warner Bros. Games has kept its word and unleashed the first full trailer to their upcoming new video game in the Batman Arkham series—Batman: Arkham Origins!
As a prequel to the highly-acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, players take control of a younger Batman, as he takes on a number of criminals and assassins out to get him on Christmas Eve.
True enough, the trailer paints a dark and gloomy Christmas Eve, as Batman dispatches a group of criminals inside a seemingly abandoned warehouse. It soon proves to be a setup, however, as The Dark Knight narrowly escapes death by a time bomb hidden inside one of the packages the goons were carrying.
Once outside, Batman comes face to face with the ultimate mercenary of the DC Universe himself, Deathstroke The Terminator. Both soon battle and Batman nearly defeated, until a sniper shot prevents Deathstroke from landing the deathblow on the Caped Crusader. It soon becomes apparent that there are others after The Bat, and the man responsible for placing a bounty on his head is none other than the notorious criminal and underworld crimeboss, Black Mask.

Facing tough odds and a battle that he seemingly can’t win, Arkham Origins will put Batman to the ultimate test for the very first time in his life. It doesn’t end with Deathstroke or Black Mask though, as familiar villains from The Dark Knight’s rogues’ gallery also appear in the game. Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, will be making his mark as usual, and fans will see the return of The Joker, who once again appears to torment Batman—for the very first time in the Arkham universe.
Besides the new trailer and The Joker’s return, new voice actors will be lending their talents to the game’s characters, including Batman himself. After legendary Star Wars actor Mark Hamill announced his retirement from playing the role following the climactic epilogue of Batman: Arkham City, a new face steps up to take on The Clown Prince of Crime.
Troy Baker, who played Ryo Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden 3 and Jake Muller in Resident Evil 6, will be voicing the younger version of The Joker. As for Batman, it will be Roger Craig Smith, best known for playing Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5 & 6, Ezio Auditore from the Assassin Creed games, and Sonic The Hedgehog.
According to Batman-news.com, Kevin Conroy announced that he’ll be in the game as well, though no details have emerged as to what his role will be. He may play the older Batman to Smith’s inexperienced one, but we’ll just have to wait and see how it pans out.
