Wii U fans can breathe easy now: Contrary to rumors, game publisher Electronic Arts is not dropping support for the platform, a video gaming site reported.
The Market for Computer and Video Games UK said EA chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said the publisher is still making games for Nintendo's newest platform.
Jorgensen, however, admitted the games EA will produce for Wii U will not be as many as those for Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PS4.
"We are building titles for the Nintendo console, but not anywhere near as many as we are for PS or Xbox," it quoted him as saying.
He added the consumer can expect "a lot more powerful gameplay" and excitement with the new consoles coming out.
Yet, he said it remains to be seen "as to the services associated with those as to how consumers decide which direction they might want to go."
MCV said EA had announced that Wii U releases for both Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14 would be left out.
It said FIFA 13, one of the console's launch titles, had "disappointing" commercial results. — TJD, GMA News
