Motorola's Moto X coming in August with always-on voice commands
Motorola's upcoming Moto X phone may be coming to Canada in August, with an always-on voice command feature, an Australia-based Android enthusiast site reported over the weekend.
AusDroid.net cited a video from Toronto, canada-based Rogers Wireless showing the Moto X, indicating the new device will launch in August in a choice of black and white.
"The Moto X is apparently always listening for commands, the initiating command appears to be ‘Ok Google Now...’ without having to load Google Now or select voice operation," it said.
Once the phone hears this command, it will provide the information the user requests.
Also, it said the Moto X will have a discreet notification system dubbed "Active Updates."
"Instead of a multi-colored notification LED the Moto X will display notifications on the screen which you can ignore or take care of straight away," it said.
However, AusDroid added LTE bands in the US and Canada are not quite compatible with Australia's 1800MHz network, and may make importing the phone "a bit hard."
On the other hand, it said that if the phone is released in Europe where 1800MHz LTE is available, "we should at least be able to get hold of one to take for a spin."
Camera improvements
Meanwhile, AusDroid said the Moto X will have camera improvements such as a burst mode function where one can take multiple shots by holding a finger down on the screen.
It will also allow users to launch the camera quickly by twisting the wrist twice.
"No need to slide anything or select an icon," it said. — TJD, GMA News
