Apple released this week another update for its latest operating system for mobile devices, this time to fix a bug that allows a user to bypass a device's lock screen.

The update, iOS 7.0.2, can be accessed via the Settings-Software Update app on the iPhone or iPad, tech site The Next Web reported.

"The vulnerability was a small, but significant one; a video detailing the process shows that the workaround could be used to access the camera interface, all of the user’s photos and then share them to various social networks or via email. The security flaw reportedly couldn’t be used to access any other part of the device," it said.

It added a user could access some basic functions including the Camera Roll without having to enter the passcode.

Aside from the bug fix, The Next Web said a Greek keyboard option "has also been reintroduced as an option for entering passcodes."

Meanwhile, security researcher Graham Cluley noted the latest iOS fix addresses the passcode flaws that had "embarrassed" Apple since it launched iOS 7 earlier this month.

He said the latest problem to be discovered was a flaw in iOS 7′s lockscreen code that allowed anyone to make a phone call from a locked device via the emergency screen.

"Anyone want to place a bet on how long it takes hackers to find a vulnerability in this version?" he said. — TJD, GMA News
