Google to patent photo frame that syncs with phone

You can soon make calls and do a host of things by just tapping on faces in a photo uploaded to a wireless photo frame that can sync to your phone. This will become reality once Google's patent pushes through. 

 

The US Patent and Trademark Office issued Patent 8,548,134 to Google on Oct. 1, for a "digital photo frame with dial-a-tag functionality."

 

"[One can] identify the phone number of a selected object, and. . .dial the identified phone number, in response to user activation of a tag associated with the rendered digital photo and corresponding to the selected object," the USPTO said.

 

A separate report on Mashable said the frame is linked to a mobile phone through a wireless connection, and allows a user to tag people in the photo.

 

One can simply tap the face of anyone in a picture and the phone may then call that contact.

 

But Mashable also indicated more possibilities if the wireless photo frame is integrated into other things Google such as Android, Office suite and Google TV. 

 

"So far, it doesn't look like any sort of hardware is anywhere near market-ready. But if this patent is any indication, Google has set a serious framework," it added. – KDM, GMA News
