2,000 iPhones fall like dominoes in this holiday video

Here's a Christmas Eve treat for YouTube and iPhone addicts: 2,000 iPhone 5S smartphones are starring in a "Happy Holidays" video where they fall like dominos.

The YouTube video posted by Aatma Studio showed the 2,000 iPhones falling in a "Happy Holiday" pattern, using the new iPhone's Near Field Communications (NFC) feature.

"Happy Holidays Domino showcases 2,000 iPhones (that's right TWO THOUSAND iPhones) falling neatly in a 'Happy Holiday' pattern. This concept iPhone 5 feature of NFC (Near Field Communications) enable content to be passed on from one screen to another," it said.

A separate report on tech site Mashable said Aatma Studio had been behind viral iPhone concepts that include lasers and holographics.

In this video, it said that as the iPhone first tips over, new patterns and colors are unveiled "until ultimately the iPhones are lit up."

"You're treated to a visual masterpiece that even includes animated fireworks," it added.

But the studio did not actually purchase 2,000 iPhones for the project, Mashable said.

"We are an animation and digital content studio specializing in producing computer-generated imagery, so we modeled, animated and rendered computer-generated phones, where the footage was used as a background and the phones were composited over it," it quoted Pramod Modi Shantharam, CEO and animation director at Aatma Studio, as saying.

On the other hand, Mashable said the company had also used NFC earlier this year with 10,000 iPhones falling like dominoes. — TJD, GMA News
