Students build face-tracking marshmallow cannon
Now, this is definitely one sweet weapon.
A group of students built a face-tracking marshmallow cannon that launches the sweet treat - and tracks your face to help make sure the marshmallow hits your mouth.
"The Confectionery Cannon is a face-tracking marshmallow launcher built by four Olin College students for Principles of Engineering in the fall of 2013," they said in a YouTube video:
Dubbed the Confectionery Cannon, it was built in three months with open-source software, on a budget of $250.
Members of the team included engineering students Forrest Bourke, Michael Searing, Elliott Wyse and Ssarth Mehrotra.
The Next Web noted most of the weapon is made of acrylic, with some aluminum pieces "that hold together four servos, a webcam, a solenoid, a PVC tank, and an Arduino Uno."
Python and OpenCV software was used to do the actual face tracking, it added.
"We’d be lying if we said we didn’t want one," it added.
