Computer specialist Edward Snowden, who gained worldwide fame after disclosing top secret documents of the US National Security Agency, can now really consider himself a hero, after an action figure of him was made.

The maker of the figures, ThatsMyFace.com, offered the figures for sale at $99 each, with proceeds going to the Freedom of the Press Foundation where Snowden is a board member.

"Introducing the Edward Snowden action figure. Edward Snowden's lifelike head mounted on a 12-inch fully-articulated action figure body with detailed pre-fitted clothes. Each figure is made to order and all of the proceeds will be donated to the Freedom of the Press Foundation which Edward is on the board of," it said.

Snowden, an American computer specialist, was a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) employee and former NSA contractor.

He had disclosed a large number of top secret NSA documents to several media outlets.

ThatsMyFace.com said the action figure package includes a custom action Snowden figure head mounted on a 12-inch action figure body with a several choices of outfits.

"By selecting Head only in the Outfit selection box above, you can also buy Edward Snowden's head for $60 only and fit it onto your own 12-inch figurines," it added.

However, the site also said neither Snowden nor the Freedom of the Press Foundation sponsors, authorizes, or endorses the action figure.

The Freedom of the Press Foundation
described itself as a nonprofit organization "dedicated to helping support and defend public-interest journalism focused on exposing mismanagement, corruption, and law-breaking in government."

A separate report on CNET noted
Snowden had already been cast as the hero in a video game where he collects sensitive information "while avoiding government capture."

"The best part probably comes when you start to mix your Snowden figure in with your 'Star Wars' toys. Snowden could then be involved with exposing Darth Vader's top-secret spying efforts on board the Death Star, which would be totally amazing," it said. — VC, GMA News
