Bradley Cooper to star in new Indiana Jones movies?

According to a report by Kellvin Chavez of Latino Review, Harrison Ford may eventually pass the iconic bullwhip, fedora and leather jacket to a younger actor.
 
That’s right, Ford’s days as archaeologist and adventurer, Indiana Jones, may be coming to a close. And while Ford could still resume the role in the next film in the popular franchise, the studio is more than ready to recast a younger Dr. Jones in preparation for a possible new trilogy.
 
A new Jones for a new trilogy
 
Chavez obtained his information from a reliable yet unnamed source, the same one who was responsible for the revelation that Bradley Cooper will be the voice of Rocket Raccoon in the upcoming Marvel movie, “Guardians of the Galaxy”.
 
Purportedly, the studio is currently looking at several actors who could replace Ford. At the top of that list is Hollywood heartthrob, Bradley Cooper.
 

 
Cooper has yet to accept the role or sign any deals, but his experience playing charming rogues in films such as the “A-Team” reboot and “The Hangover” trilogy could mean he’s perfect for the job. And while they don’t look exactly alike, Cooper’s facial anatomy does possess something uniquely Harrison Ford-ish – a very large nose.
 
As for who would be writing the new films starring Cooper, word has it that Frank Darabont will be returning to the franchise.
 
Darabont is known for writing and directing the award-winning critical hit, “Shawshank Redemption”, but he also wrote a script for a fourth “Indiana Jones” film called “Indiana Jones and the City of Gods.”

The draft, which was set in the 1950s and had former Nazis hunting down Jones, was loved by Steven Spielberg but rejected by George Lucas. Lucas took over the story and the film ultimately became the “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” that we know of – and hate – today.
  
The fate of Mutt Williams
 
The last “Indiana Jones” movie ended with Jones marrying longtime beau, Marion Ravenwood Williams (Karen Allen), and their son, Henry “Mutt Williams” Jones III (Shia LaBeouf) almost inheriting the fedora (and presumably everything that came with it).
 
 

 
At one point Lucas had intentions of moving the Mutt Williams character to the forefront of the franchise, with Ford’s character relegated to a sidekick role, as Sean Connery’ elder Jones was to the younger Jones in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”.
 
“I haven’t even told Steven (Spielberg) or Harrison this,” Lucas explained to Fox News. “But I have an idea to make Shia the lead character next time and have Harrison come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out.”
 
Given LaBeouf’s recent drop in popularity thanks to a series of alleged plagiarism cases, it is unclear if he will ever reprise his role as Mutt, let alone take center stage in any “Indiana Jones” film.
 
LaBeouf has since then been seen publicly wearing a paper bag, with the words “I am not famous anymore” on it, over his head.
 
If Ford decides to have another go at the bullwhip and hat in the purported fifth “Indiana Jones” film, it remains to be seen if, or how, Mutt will be written off the series.
 
Whatever the case, Ford, who is 71, has always expressed a desire to return to one of the roles that made him a household name. So expect more news regarding Ford and Cooper in the upcoming months. — TJD, GMA News
