This fan-made web shooter would make Spider-Man proud

Stan Lee would be proud: A German laser-weapons hobbyist has built a Spider-Man web shooter that really works.

Patrick Priebe posted on Friday a video of a prototype of his latest creation in action - an electromagnetic shooter that he said he made from scratch.

"Not for sale, don't ask for how-to or tutorials please," he said in his YouTube video.

However, the shooter isn't quite Spider-Man stuff - a separate report on Mashable said it actually shoots a harpoon-tipped fishing line instead of a liquid web.

Mashable also noted Priebe, whose earlier superhero-based works include a pair of X-Men Cyclops glasses, debuted the shooter just as the film "Spider-Man 2" debuts in Germany this weekend.

"To bring this to life, Priebe created a web shooter that is actually a coil gun that wraps around the wrist. A coil gun is a projectile accelerator that uses metallic coils to shoot objects through electromagnetism. He then slipped on a Spiderman-themed glove to enhance the full effect," it said. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
