Get your hoverboard fix with this Oculus Rift + Wii hack

Marty McFly's hoverboard hasn't quite made it off the drawing board yet, but "Back to the Future" fans can now get a feel of what it's like to ride one.
Developer Kieran Lord recreated the experience using an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and a Wii Balance Board - one year before Marty actually goes hoverboarding.
"So now all we need is someone to invent flying cars and make 10 more (J)aws films to hit 2015 properly," Lord, a.k.a. Cratesmith, said on his YouTube video.
He said he used unity3d to create the virtual reality experience, but credited Richard Kogelnig for the idea.
A report on Mashable said the BTTF fictional timeline indicates McFly was riding the hoverboard about October 21, 2015.
"So while real hoverboards still haven't appeared on store shelves, in the meantime, this virtual version might just be good enough," it said.
Lord also said on Reddit that his imagination of the hoverboard physics slightly differs from the BTTF magnetic levitation skateboard.
"It's more a snowboard with a 'virtual slope' of the front/back angle of the board. If that works and feels good the player could just get up a ton of speed and then stomp their back foot to get the same effect as going over a jump ramp," he said.
As to comments that he could be raising copyright issues, he said, "I'm hoping that they don't just lawyer up." — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
