Goonies game gets new graphics, sound in new release

Here's another blast from the past that got a little upgrade for present-day gamers.

The video game "The Goonies," based on a 1980s film, has been updated for the 2010s with new graphics and better sounds, Retro Gaming Magazine reported.

"Fans of the Datasoft original can expect not only improved graphics and sound but additional levels. This is how remakes should be made. This version is in English, there is a Spanish version available but we don’t have a link for that one," it said.

Here's a look at the original version:

Retro Gaming said the PC version was remade by the Sloth Team and is now available for free on computers running Microsoft's Windows and the open-source Linux operating systems.

RGM said the new "Goonies" game is a 2D side-scrolling action puzzle game.

A separate report on Computer EmuZone said the 'Sloth Team' "have done a great job" with "good graphics" and "variety of music" as well as the "conservation of addiction and original gameplay."

But it also noted the game has added new levels not in the original Datasoft game. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
