A Google tablet with 3D-display is in the works
Google is working on a "cutting-edge" tablet computer that may capture 3D images, according to a report on the Wall Street Journal.
The WSJ quoted people briefed on the matter as saying the tablet would have "advanced vision capabilities" although only 4,000 prototype tablets would be made.
Although the rest of the WSJ article was behind a paywall, tech site The Next Web said the tablet will have advanced sensors and software that "can take precise 3D images of objects."
The Next Web also quoted the WSJ report as saying the tablet will have a seven-inch screen, with two back cameras and infrared depth sensors.
It added the work stems from a Google research project known as Project Tango.
Last February, it said Google released a prototype smartphone that has sensors capable of generating a 3D map of one's surroundings. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
