Apple's smartwatch to sport a round face too?
After Motorola and Samsung, would Apple also have plans to build a smartwatch with a round face?
This was the claim of an analyst who cited sources in the supply chain for Apple's so-called iWatch, Business Insider reported.
Business Insider quoted Rosenblatt Securities analyst Brian Blair as saying his sources claimed the iWatch will have a round face like a normal watch.
He also said Apple may start producing the watch as early as July or August, with possible separate models for men and women.
Thus, Apple's design may resemble those from Samsung and Motorola, its rivals in the mobile computing business.
"If you've been watching Apple's software design evolution, this would make sense. It's made icons and buttons on the iPhone round. So, we could see it fitting those icons onto a watch," Business Insider noted.
Earlier, Motorola announced plans for its circular Moto 360, which runs on Android. PhoneArena.com also said a patent sought by Samsung also hints at a round watch.
Meanwhile, the report said Blair forecasts Apple could make 18 to 21 million iWatches for the second half of the year. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
