PHL readies for Int'l Informatics Olympiad
The Philippines has started preparations for the upcoming International Olympiad in Informatics as the National Olympiad in Informatics Philippines (NOI.PH) has started accepting registrations.
NOI.PH, the premier computing olympiad of the Philippines for high school students, will be held June 28 and 29 to prepare for the IOI in Taiwan from July 13 to 20.
It has the support of the Department of Science and Technology Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICTO) through Executive Director Louis Napoleon Casambre, and deputy executive director Monchito Ibrahim.
This will be the first time the Philippines will be officially represented at the IOI.
IOI is one of five international science olympiads. Its goal is to stimulate interest in informatics (computing science) and information technology.
A second important goal is to "bring together exceptionally talented pupils from various countries and to have them share scientific and cultural experiences."
Filipinos who want to represent the country should be Filipino citizens currently in high school or secondary school, anywhere in the world (Grades 7 to 12).
They can log on to the competition’s website, www.noi.ph, to sign up.
Competitions
The competition will on June 28 and 29 will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Philippine time.
Login credentials will be sent to registered participants in the morning, and there will be three problems to solve for each day, with solutions in the C, C++ and Java languages.
Winners will be decided based on the ranking of final participant score comprising the total sum of scores for both days.
