The Flash pilot goes online, show to premiere in October
By TIM G. VILLASOR

While fans of DC Entertainment have been anxiously waiting for the debut of Arrow's spin-off sister series The Flash, someone went ahead of The Fastest Man Alive and actually leaked the pilot episode of the new show, which was set to debut later this fall on The CW.
According to a report by CosmicBookNews, a promotional review copy of the very first episode had made its way online, thus giving those with Internet access an unofficial look at the upcoming superhero show. As a result, thousands of images, gifs, and memes have appeared across social media sites, particularly on Tumblr where users and fans have been posting images on the various scenes featuring The Scarlet Speedster in action as well as the many Easter Eggs that have appeared in the episode.
Following news of the leaked episode, The CW officially announced their Fall schedule line-up of shows, with The Flash to premiere on October 7. This will be preceded on October 1 by a two-hour encore presentation of Barry Allen’s introduction in the Arrow Season 2 episodes “The Scientist” and “Three Ghosts”, and then a replay of the Flash pilot again on Wednesday, October 8, following the premiere of the third season of Arrow.
Based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name created by Robert Kanigher, John Broome, and Carmine Infantino, The Flash is the second TV series spinning off the DC TV Universe started by Arrow, which stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/ Green Arrow. Written and developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns, the show casts Glee actor and star Grant Gustin in the titular role as Barry Allen/ The Flash, who gets his amazing speed abilities thanks to a lightning bolt that strikes him after a particle accelerator accident hits his hometown of Central City. After waking up from a coma and discovering his extraordinary new abilities, Barry decides to use his powers for good, donning the guise and superhero identity of The Flash.
Besides Gustin, The Flash also stars Candice Patton as Iris West, Barry’s bestfriend and the daughter of Detective Joe West, played by Jesse L. Martin. Rick Cosnett plays Eddie Thawne, an officer with a dark and mysterious past that transfers to Central City, while Tom Cavanagh plays Dr. Harrison Wells, the mind behind S.T.A.R. Labs and the particle accelerator that explodes and gave Barry his powers. In a nod to the original Flash TV Series of the 90’s, John Wesley Shipp, the man who played the original Flash in that show, plays a cameo role as Barry’s dad, Henry Allen.
