The woes surrounding iOS 8, Apple's latest operating system for mobile devices, appear far from over.

Apple has pulled out its first update for iOS 8 after users reported problems with cell reception and the Touch ID feature, a tech site reported early Thursday (PHL time).

"We have received reports of an issue with the iOS 8.0.1 update. We are actively investigating these reports and will provide information as quickly as we can. In the meantime we have pulled back the iOS 8.0.1 update," The Verge quoted an Apple spokesperson as saying.

Initially, several users complained upgrading to the initial iOS 8 took so much space on their devices they had to delete photos and media files.

The Verge said iOS 8.0.1 was rolled out to fix bugs in the original iOS 8, which was released last week.

It cited early complaints including the "No Service" message after iOS 8.0.1 was installed.

Both of Apple's latest iPhones appeared affected, though older models "seem to handle the update just fine," the report added.

"Many who have updated their iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPhone 5s are reporting no problems, so it appears this problem is likely confined to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus," it said.

In the meantime, users may want to roll back to the initial iOS 8.

The iOS 8.0.1. update was supposed to fix:

- a bug in HealthKit
- an issue where third-party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode
- an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library

The patch supposedly fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data use when receiving SMS/MMS messages.  — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
