Could this be Microsoft's successor to the Nokia Lumia 1020?

Photos leaked online on a Chinese bidding website indicate the Lumia device with an alumninum body and a large camera bump, GeekOnGadgets.com said.

Citing the onscreen specs, the report said the supposed Lumia device will have 32 GB of storage, a quad-core processor and a 1080p screen.

But it also said the leak could be fake due to on-screen buttons, and the camera lens is reportedly smaller than might be expected from an actual Lumia device.

A separate article on tech site The Verge said the new device—if it indeed exists—has been identified only as "Nokia RM-1052" running Windows Phone 8.1.

It has 2GB of RAM and "what appears to be a 5-inch 1080p display."

"While it’s possible this device could be an elaborate fake, there are signs that suggest it’s simply a Windows Phone prototype. At the rear of the mysterious handset there is Nokia prototype text, and the device looks unfinished in places. The body seems to be aluminum, but there’s a plastic strip at the bottom of the device, an addition that looks odd but may assist with radio signal strength," it said.

It added Nokia uses a similar strip on its basic 515 handset.

But The Verge also said the device could also be the canceled "Nokia McLaren" handset that may have contained Kinect-like Windows Phone gestures. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
