Jaina Proudmoore joins Blizzard's ‘Heroes of the Storm’

Blizzard’s MOBA title, “Heroes of the Storm”, is getting another character from the “Warcraft” universe.

Making her chilly entrance is Jaina Proudmoore, a powerful archmage who just wants everybody to get along… until someone decides they don’t share her love for peace and harmony.

In “Heroes of the Storm”, Jaina is a high damage-dealing Ranged Assassin. Wielding the power of ice, she can slow down enemies with the Chill effect that is inherent in all her cold-based attacks.

Starting Abilities include “Frostbolt”, which has her hurling an ice projectile at a single foe; “Blizzard”, which rains down two waves of icy shards on a targeted area; and “Cone of Cold”, which blasts – you guessed it – a cone of freezing magic at enemies in front of her.

Her Heroic Abilities include “Summon Water Elemental”, which calls forth a watery guardian to fight by her side, and “Ring of Frost” which freezes and damages all enemies caught in its area of effect.

Jaina also comes with several skins, including the “Winter Veil Jaina”, which makes her look like Lady Santa.

Jaina Proudmoore first appeared in 2002’s “Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos”, and has since become an integral part of “Warcraft” lore. In Blizzard’s “Hearthstone”, Jaina serves as the introductory hero who teaches you the digital card game’s basics.

The frost wizard is now available for play thanks to the latest Alpha patch for “Heroes of the Storm”. In addition, the upgrade also comes with new items, a refurbished user interface, and some improved art.

Previously released additions to the playable hero roster include the Lord of Sin, Azmodan, from “Diablo III”, and Anub’arak and Pandaren Brewmaster Chen Stormstout from the “Warcraft” mythos. — TJD, GMA News
