Android 5.1 begins rollout

Here's something sweet for users of devices running Android: Google is rolling out what may be the first major update for Android 5.0 (Lollipop).
Enthusiast site Android Police said it spotted at least five mentions of "Android 5.1" on Google's Indonesian Android One page.
"Considering that 5.1 is quite a jump from 5.0.2, and something like 5.0.3 seemed more likely as the next bug fixer, we were cautious to suggest it may have been a mistake or a very persistent typo... But as it turns out, Android 5.1 is real, and it's indeed shipping on Android One phones in Indonesia," it said.
It said users could expect various bug fixes. Android Police noted Lollipop presently has memory bugs "resulting in slow performance and constantly reloading apps."
On the other hand, it said its server logs indicated Android "5.1" could have rolled out to Nexus devices including:
- Android 5.1; Nexus 5 Build/LMY29C
- Android 5.1; Nexus 6 Build/LMY29C
- Android 5.1; Nexus 6 Build/LMY29D
- Android 5.1; Nexus 9 Build/LMY22E
- Android 5.1; Nexus 6 Build/LMY22E
"While these, of course, could have been easily faked, the amount of them and the presence of both the correct version number and the evolving build series make me confident that they're real. And why wouldn't they be? Obviously, Google has been testing the latest version of Android on Nexus devices," it said. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
