Official Powerpuff Girls reboot slated for 2016



 
“Sugar. Spice. And everything nice. These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little girls.”
 
So goes the introduction to the beloved 90’s cartoon series that featured bug-eyed, superpowered little girls. It’s been 10 years (how time flies when you get old) since the final episode of “The Powerpuff Girls” aired on TV, but according to a press release by Cartoon Network, “The Powerpuff Girls” are making a comeback. And getting the reboot treatment in the process.
 
Slated for a 2016 premiere, the reboot will have Nick Jennings (“Adventure Time” producer) on board as executive producer.
 
“The Powerpuff Girls” premiered on Cartoon Network in 1998 and ran for 78 episodes. It earned 5 Emmy Awards and received numerous nominations and animation honors during its 7-year run. A spin-off anime, “Powerpiff Girls Z” ran for 52 episodes from 2006 to 2007.
