WATCH: World's first hoverboard flight to set Guinness Record
advertisement

Guinness World Records has just announced the farthest hoverboard flight, reaching 275.9 m (905 ft 2 in). The hoverboard used to set the record was invented by Canadian Catalin Alexandru Duru and utilizes propellers to achieve a height of 5 m.
“I wanted to showcase that a stable flight can be achieved on a hoverboard and a human could stand and control with their feet,” Duru said. It took him around a year to build the hoverboard.
No specific details about the hoverboard's construction have surfaced yet, although the video shows that flight is apparently achieved by downward-facing propellers, configured much like an aerial quadcopter drone.
The flight actually took place in August 25, 2014 but the video was released just last week. — Bea Montenegro/TJD, GMA News
