GMA News Online stories now available for free to Globe, Smart users via Internet.org

Globe subscribers can now access GMA News Online for free via Internet.org beginning July 8.

 

Previously, the service was only available to Smart and Talk 'N Text users.

 

Internet.org is an initiative that aims to allow the two-thirds of the world who don’t have Internet access the chance to connect with online content. Access to basic tools for education, communication, work, and health enable users to empower themselves using important information.

 

GMA News Online stories have been available for free using the service since June.

 

Ime Archibong, Director of Product Partnerships at Facebook, earlier welcomed the GMA News partnership to allow the service "to offer locally relevant and valuable content for newly connected Filipinos."

 

“Access to free basic services will create positive impact in people’s lives. We hope to partner with more services created by Philippine developers that address needs like education, agriculture, and economic development for Filipinos,” Archibong said.
