advertisement
Remember Commodore, the iconic home computer that helped bring computing to the masses over 30 years ago? It's back—this time as a smartphone.
But the smartphone, dubbed the Commodore PET, comes not just with the Commodore name: it also comes with emulators that let you play 1980s games.

A report on Wired.com said the emulators let owners play games once played on the C64 and Amiga.
Italian entrepreneurs Massimo Canigiani and Carlo Scattolini registered Commodore Business Machines Limited in the UK, it added.
Specs of the phone, which runs a customized version of Google's Android, include:
- 5.5-inch IPS 1920×1080 pixel resolution display made of Gorilla Glass 3
- 1.7 GHz 64-bit octa-core processor
- 3000-mAh battery
- 13-megapixel main camera that can take images up to 4096×2304 pixels, and videos up to 1080p HD. The front camera is 8 megapixels with an 80-degree wide angle lens
- dual-SIM
- 4G LTE connectivity
- 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage
Wired also said the phone may support gestures such as shaking, flipping or waving at the phone.
Games
Wired said Commodore is working with unnamed software houses to bring some 1980s games to the PET phone.
Availability
Wired said the PET will be initially available in Italy, France, Germany, and Poland, and to other European countries and America later. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
