Marvel Superheroes as hip-hop album covers

Even your Marvel superheroes have to chill out, too.

And that's exactly what they'll do starting October, when Marvel releases variant covers that pay homage to hip-hop.

"For years, Marvel Comics and Hip-Hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialog... Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces," Buzzfeed.com quoted Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso as saying.

The variant covers include:

- Spider-Man and Deadpool
- The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl
- Squadron Supreme
- Amazing Spider-Man
- Ant-Man
Tech Times said other covers include:

- Howard The Duck getting the Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version
- Invincible Iron Man getting artwork similar to 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin'
- Ms. Marvel getting artwork like that of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album by Lauryn Hill.

A separate report on The Verge said the move came after Marvel rebooted its entire comics line after the end of Secret Wars. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
