Who is Alexander Halim? A Facebook glitch is making him famous
By TJ DIMACALI, GMA News
The Facebook profile of one Alexander Halim is the talk of the Internet this Tuesday, after it mysteriously began to pop up in Facebook users' browsers around the world.
An as-yet unresolved glitch in the social network's system has been redirecting some people to Halim's profile whenever they click on notifications in their feeds.
Some observers note that the trouble may stem from the fact that Halim's "vanity URL" for his Facebook profile is "/comment", which may be confusing Facebook servers into redirecting to his profile when users try to access comments in their own feeds.
The phenomenon may have been happening since early November, if the posts on The Straight Dope forum are anything to go by.
"It seems like (Halim's) profile is some kind of default that Facebook sends people to when a link fails... So it seems that he has bagged '/comment' as a vanity URL, which means that when a FB URL with '/comment/' in it gets munged, it goes to his page somehow," wrote user Colophon.
Facebook has yet to issue an official statement on the matter as of posting time. — GMA News
