Mobile app developed for International Eucharistic Congress

The participants and those who just want to be kept up to date of the scheduled activities of the International Eucharistic Congress that will be held in Cebu this weekend can download free mobile application for smartphones.

The IEC2016 Guide is the official app of the Congress that was developed by the new media company InnoPub Media, which is headed by Max Limpag.

"The app has a lot of information about the IEC - schedules, speakers, basic theological text, news and updates, links to the official livestream feed of the event," he told GMA News Online.

"It also serves as a comprehensive guide to Cebu. Where to go, what to do when here (in Cebu). (And the) food they should try," he added.

The project is part of the nationwide Digital Tourism program of InnoPub Media and telecom company SMART Communications.

"It's free to download, free to the archdiocese," said Limpag.

Limpag explained that the program taps mobile technology to deliver tourism, cultural and historical information.

The app contains information about IEC2016, the history of the Congress, schedule of events, messages from key church officials, registration details, among others.

The app also contains information about heritage structures in Cebu that will be part of the “Visita Iglesia” program that delegates and pilgrims can tap so they can visit churches in Metro Cebu.

InnoPub Media already developed similar apps including guides to seveal towns in Cebu province including Samboan, Santander, Boljoon, as well as in Iloilo, Bohol, Baguio, and Albay. — BAP/LBG, GMA News
