'Star Trek' TV teaser confirms new series for 2017

With 2016 marking the 50th Anniversary of the long-running Star Trek franchise and Paramount Pictures commemorating the celebration this year with the release of the thirteenth entry in the film series with “Star Trek Beyond”, CBS is making preparations for a brand new “Star Trek” television series that will premiere early next year – the first since the end of “Star Trek Enterprise” in 2005.

Announced on the official Star Trek website, the as-yet untitled Star Trek television series got its very first teaser trailer revealed together with what is most likely the official logo for the show. Set to premiere on CBS first and then run on CBS All Access as well sometime on January 2017, the series will be executively produced and run by Bryan Fuller, with Alex Kurtzman on board as executive producer and Nicholas Meyer as writer and consulting producer. — TJD, GMA News
