Top pro-gaming player Infiltration wins the first Street Fighter V Evolution Championship
Raise up your arms and give a hand to the one of the winners of this year’s Evolution Championship Series: professional fighting game player and regular EVO contestant Lee “Infiltration” Seon-woo.
Lee has been crowned as the very first “Street Fighter V” champion in EVO 2016.
After battling his way and beating hundreds of participants, Infiltration had a one-on- one match with fellow Street Fighter player and Japan representative Fuudo in the Grand Finals held on Sunday, the last day of the three-day event at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Being former champions of the previous EVO Installments and top players who have mastered games such as Super Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter x Tekken, both finalists went the distance and took on one another for the second time – with Fuudo actually beating Infiltration in the semi- finals to send him to the Losers bracket.
After obtaining a hard earned victory against third placer Yukadon, Infiltration returned for a rematch against Fuudo, and managed to reset the bracket and eventually defeat his rival in the Finals.
After defeating Fuudo’s R.Mika with his character of choice Nash, Infiltration was awarded the very first “Grand Champion” award for Street Fighter V, the newest installment of Capcom’s long running brawler franchise that was released last February and headlined the Evolution Championship Series for the first time this year.
Interviewed after his match, the South Korean champ offered his thanks to the fans, the Fighting Game Community, and shared two words that marked his triumphant moment: “Download Complete.”
Streamed on Twitch and for the first time on ESPN2, Street Fighter V has certainly helped the fighting game genre come a long way.
Congratulations Infiltration, your current Evolution Championship Series Street Fighter Champion!
