After much anticipation, rumors, and news about what the company has in store for its customers, Sony finally revealed details of its PlayStation 4 models at the PlayStation Meeting in New York City. At the event, the remodeled versions of the PlayStation 4 Slim and the HDR/4K supporting model that was codenamed the Neo and is now called the PlayStation 4 Pro were unveiled.

The PS4 Slim is the new slimmer and lighter version of the PlayStation 4 – which hasn’t changed its look since it was launched in November 2013. Sporting a new revamped look that features the familiar “PS” logo in the middle, a 500 HDD, and volume reduced by more than 30%, the Slim (designated as CUH-2000 series) will be available in the Philippines starting September 24 and is expected to be priced at retail for about P17,300. Power consumption for the model has also been cut down to more than 34%, and HDR (High Dynamic Range) will be supported with a firmware update Sony will provide later for all PS4 systems.

Unveiling one of their longstanding mystery projects, Sony officially revealed what its project “Neo” was: the PlayStation 4 Pro, a high-end version of the PS4 that officially supports HDR and 4K.

Set to focus on graphics and quality resolution that supply far more stable frame rates, the PS4 Pro will support 4K playback and will complement streaming services like YouTube and Netflix that already use the standard. A 1080p resolution will be displayed for HDTV users, and those with HDR ready TV sets will be able to enjoy quality that is far more superior and realistic than anyone has ever seen.

The system is expected to be priced at P22,300 and will also include a 1TB HDD to support all the games you’ll need to download as well as the data to store in it!

With a brand-new redesign of the Dualshock 4 Controller coming this September as well as the upcoming October release of the PlayStation VR peripheral, there’s so many ways to play with PlayStation this holiday season. Visit the official site for details. — BM, GMA News
