PLDT unveils wireless broadband bundle Smart Biz LTE
In today's connected world, it's nearly impossible to get anything done without the power of the internet. Who hasn't forged through the hell of traffic without Waze? Or used Facebook to communicate with both friends and work associates?
Stable connectivity and good WiFi are therefore crucial to everyone—especially businesses.
Last Friday PLDT SME Nation unveiled its newest wireless broadband, the Smart Biz LTE. Meant for next-generation Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Smart Biz LTE device bundle comes with a standard Enterprise Data plan boasting speeds up to 42 mbps, as well as an industry-grade router.

The router features a dual antenna with MIMO capability. It is able to connect to a maximum of 45 devices simultaneously, and comes encased in a durable, business-grade steel housing.
According to SME Nation, the product is capable of a WiFi reach of between 30 and 50 meters—which is around two to three times wider than the reach of standard routers.
This, SME Nation states, makes it ideal for any local enterprise wishing to give their business an extra boost with stable, high-speed data.
There are three LTE plans. The P1,899 plan has 5 GB of data allocation. The P2,349 has 13 GB of data allocation. The P4,100 has 21 GB of data allocation.
Installation of the router is free.
The router can be mounted on the wall, ceiling, or on top of any hard, stationary surface such as a table, making it a good choice for an office setting. As it is also fit for mobile use, it is compatible with vehicles, and can be attached to a bus or any other form of public transportation.
Consumers can also opt to pay an additional P250 per month to receive one SmartCam. A maximum of two SmartCams are allowed per subscription. The SmartCam offers an extra layer of security, as it allows users to remotely view what the camera sees in its surroundings.
Smart Biz LTE will be available from September 2016 onward. Any business that acquires a subscription between September 16 and October 31 will receive one free SmartCam per line.
Technology and business
According to SME Nation, over 90% of local businesses are MSMEs, accounting for thousands upon thousands of jobs. They are therefore an invaluable asset to the Philippine economy.
MSMEs, however, find themselves in constant competition against big businesses. To survive and thrive, MSMEs need to adapt quickly to changes in the business landscape. This is why a good wireless service is crucial.
A perfect example of an MSME is Bambike Revolution Cycles, which was announced as the new ambassador for Smart Biz LTE.
Bambike is a socio-ecological enterprise involved in the production of bicycles composed of natural materials such as abaca and bamboo. These unique, eco-friendly bikes are used to take people on sightseeing ecotours of historic Intramuros.

“Bambike is dedicated to social and environmental stewardship through making the greenest bikes on the planet,” said Bambike founder Bryan Benitez McClelland.
“Our vision as a company is to not only live our passion for bicycles, local tourism, and love for Mother Earth, but also create impacts to the betterment of our community.”

According to McClelland, the Smart Biz LTE technology “enabled us to improve our operational efficiency by creating a more collaborative working environment even remotely at Bambike, and helped us operate on a larger scale.”
Commenting on the importance of the technology for its capacity to widen the reach of businesses, McClelland stated: “We can grow as fast as our internet connection.” — BM, GMA News
