Huawei Mate 9, GR5 launched in PHL

Chinese tech giant Huawei unveiled two of its latest dual camera-powered phones, the Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei GR5 on January 17.

But these devices mean more than just an excellent camera. Endowing them with a host of other features, Huawei believes these smartphones will prove valuable assets to today’s entrepreneurs and businessmen.

Huawei Mate 9

The Huawei Mate 9 is the latest in the bestselling Mate series of business phones.

In their bid to create a quality device, Huawei identified Android smartphone users’ three major complaints about their mobile phones: performance erosion, which is the gradual loss in speed, momentum, and responsiveness that a majority of smartphones suffer over time; short battery lives; and average cameras.

To address these three issues, Huawei has supplied the Mate 9 with a multitude of features:

First and foremost, the Mate 9 is powered by the high-performing smartphone processor Kirin 960 chipset. This is fitted with an ARM Cortex-A73/A53 Octa-Core CPU and Mali G71 Octa-core GPU. The Mate 9 also uses Huawei’s Machine Learning Algorithm, and the EMUI 5.0 user interface, which streamlines user interaction with the OS. All these features combined allow for the optimization of the Mate 9’s software and hardware systems. This in turn makes it possible for the device to adapt to everyday phone usage behaviors, accelerating the processor so that the phone becomes faster and more efficient as time progresses.

The Mate 9 is also furnished with a long lasting 4000 mAh battery. Huawei makes use of power-saving technology to increase the battery life so that it can last over two days – which is a 20 percent boost in gaming time, and an increase in call time of about 40 percent. And, thanks to SuperCharge technology, the battery can be fully charged in 20 minutes. Additionally, the Super Safe 5-gate mechanism ensures charging is safe.

The Mate 9 is equipped with a special main/rear camera co-engineered with esteemed German camera manufacturer Leica. This second-generation dual-lens Leica camera consists of two sensors: one is a 12-megapixel RGB sensor that focuses on capturing vivid, true-to-life colors, while the other is a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor that absorbs more detail, depth, and light. Information from the two sensors is combined to produce a clearer, sharper picture. The first phone to incorporate this technology was the Huawei P9, which was launched in May 2016.

The Mate 9’s camera also comes with the Hybrid Zoom feature, which allows twice the magnification of its predecessor for those extreme close-ups. It is also capable of 4K recording. The front camera is 8 megapixels.

“After the successful launch of the Mate 8 in the Philippine market, we are pleased to finally bring the highly anticipated Mate 9 to all Huawei fans in the country,” stated Huawei Mobile Philippines Marketing Director Mark De Joya. “Mate 9 not only delivers professional smartphone photography quality, but enhances the entire smartphone experience with high-grade processor and long-lasting battery fit for today’s fast-paced and always on-the-go lifestyle of the new breed of entrepreneurs and businessmen.”
