It looks like the mystical forces powering Dracula’s Castle are focusing their energies on a television near you, as Gamespot reports that Netflix has quietly given the go-ahead for a TV Series based on Konami’s popular Castlevania series that’s aimed to come out sometime this year.

According to the report, not that much details were revealed about the upcoming series other than the fact that it was listed as “Castlevania Season 1”, with the first part set to launch in 2017.

The story also revealed that producer Adi Shankar—of bootleg Power Rangers fan film fame—and Frederator Networks of Adventure Time fame are hard at work developing the story. Famed comic book writer Warren Ellis is also onboard as executive producer.

According to the official description of the report:

"Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert, and Adi Shankar."

No release date has been set yet for the Netflix Castlevania series, but given their recent success with Marvel TV Shows like Daredevil and Luke Cage as well as the sci-fi show Stranger Things and the new Voltron series, it’s a safe bet that Castlevania and the Belmont Clan’s mission to take on Dracula are in safe hands. — TJD, GMA News
