Philippine Robotics Team bags 23 medals in 2018 International Robotics Championship
The Philippine Robotics Team brought home 23 medals from the recently concluded 2018 International Robotics Championship in China.
The team competed in the seven-day competition from July 16 to 22, which included four days of nonstop coding and assembly, eight grueling robot missions and defense, and five rounds of mind boggling DRC challenges.
The members bagged two gold medals, four silver, three bronze, and 14 technical merit awards.
Bjorn Isaac Escalona won gold in Sumo 3Kg Open (DLSZ), while his sister Beatrize Ysabelle Escalona won gold in the Sumo Challenge (De La Salle Zobel).
"I feel honored to be able to be called a Philippine Robotics Team member because that title alone is something to be proud of," said Bjorn.
"I plan to use robotics in the future for medicine cause I want to study medicine like in helping building robots that could help other people in healing," added Beatrize.
Javier Alejandro A. Cuyno won the silver medal in Sumo Junior (DLSZ). Alonso M. Pioquinto, Luc Benjamin Bunag, and Emmannuel Jace Savellano each won a silver medal in their respective Creative Design (DLSZ) contests.
Those who bagged bronze were Robert Philip C. Lim (Sumo Junior DLSZ), Bianca Ysabel S. Roxas (Engineering Mission Challenge Jr. DLSZ), and Reese Reilly L. Albano (Engineering Mission Challenge Jr. DLSZ).
