UP Visayas takes down site after defacement

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) has confirmed that it took down its website after it was defaced this week.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, the university said: “We have temporarily taken down our webserver after receiving and verifying the information that there was a defacement of the UPV website.”

UPV, however, assured the public that aside from fixing the affected system, their technical team was doing a “security audit” of their systems and “taking the necessary steps to ensure that no further harm will be done.”

Just recently, UP students, officials, and alumni reported and cried #HandsOffOurStudents after fake Facebook accounts were created after them. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
