Microsoft to replace Calibri as default font

Change is afoot in the Microsoft Office.

Microsoft on Wednesday announced that Calibri is set to be replaced with a new default font.

Calibri has been the default font since 2007, taking over from Times New Roman.

"It has served us all well, but we believe it's time to evolve," said the Microsoft Design Team.

Five new custom fonts have been commissioned: Tenorite, Bierstadt, Skeena, Seaford, and Grandview.

One of them will be chosen to replace Calibri and Microsoft will consider the opinion of users in the selection process.

Those who love Calibri, however, can still use the font as it will still be available in Microsoft Office.
