Pinoy tech start-up to launch futuristic bikes inspired by 'Iron Man'

A Filipino start-up company is set to launch futuristic motorcycles inspired by  high-tech bikes in science fiction films.

According to an episode of "Next Now," Lycan Motorcycles aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence and smart accessories in its prototypes, which will be unveiled on Saturday, December 11.

The motorcycles can be customized using a mobile application and a special operating system developed by the company.

"What you are currently doing manually can be done through our mobile app, like for instance, to be able to tell you if you have broken parts in your bike and then it will give you predictive maintenance," said Chief Technology Officer JM Grefaldo.

"Nowadays you would go to the shop once a part of your bike has been causing some errors or needs fix on the way," he added. "But in the future what we envision is before that happens, you would be able to know them prior to that particular incident happening."

Riders can also talk to their bikes using the LUNA smart voice assistant, like Tony Stark's J.A.R.V.I.S. or F.R.I.D.A.Y. in his Iron Man suit.

Lycan Motorcycles CEO Jaggy Gangat said they hope to carve the path for other Filipino companies to pursue technological innovations.

"Instead of us going the average route of looking like almost all of the motorcycles that you see, we're really pushing ourselves to bring innovation and technology to the market," he said.

"We are hoping that once we are able to showcase that okay, it is possible, that okay this is what can happen, it would open up a lot more possibilities with other industries outside the motorcycle industry."
