Apple upgrades Face ID to recognize iPhone users in face masks
The struggle of unlocking iPhones outdoors is now over, at least for some.
Apple on Tuesday announced that the latest software update, iOS 15.4, has upgraded the Face ID to "recognize the unique features around your eye area."
That means that you can unlock your iPhone without having to take off your mask!
In iOS 15.4, Face ID can recognize the unique features around your eye area. So you can unlock your iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 and use Apple Pay while wearing a face mask.

You can set it up in the Face ID & Passcode under Settings.
However, the upgrade would only work for iPhone 12 or newer.
Additionally, the Face ID might not recognize users wearing hats and sunglasses.
The new iOS also came with new emojis. —JCB, GMA News
