DICT eyes 60M eGovPH app users

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is optimistic about hitting 60 million eGovPH app users before the end of the Marcos administration's term in 2028.

eGovPH tallied 40 million downloads earlier this year.

In a news release, the agency said the recently launched eGovPH Serbisyo Hub was launched in Mandaue City, Cebu, as the government aims to accelerate efforts to easily bring services to the people.

This hub in Cebu province will allow residents to access services from key government agencies such as the Social Security System, Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Health, and Department of Social Welfare and Development in one location, reducing the need to travel among offices.

The eGovPH super app has integrated with more than 1,000 government systems for transactions such as digital IDs, financial and medical services, support and issuance of certificates, permits and other digital documents, social services such as job creation, and citizen help desks and hotlines.

DICT Undersecretary for eGovernment David Almirol Jr. said the combination of physical hubs and digital platforms represents a shift in how government delivers its services to the public.

“Hindi na dapat ang tao ang lalapit sa gobyerno nang paulit-ulit. Ang gobyerno na ang lalapit sa tao. Whether through the eGovPH super app or the eGov Serbisyo Hub, we are bringing services closer to our kababayans,” Almirol said.

(It’s not the public who should have reached the government for services. It’s the other way around. Whether through the eGovPH super app or the eGov Serbisyo Hub, we are bringing services closer to our countrymen.) —VBL, GMA Integrated News
