Google introduces new Fitbit Air screenless tracker: Price, features, availability

Google has introduced the new Fitbit Air, a slim and screenless tracker aimed at helping monitor fitness.

According to Google, the device is positioned as a simpler alternative to bulkier smartwatches, with a screenless design that works closely with the Google Health app and Google Health Coach to deliver personalized wellness insights.

Here are the key things you should know about the Fitbit Air:

Key features

The Fitbit Air is the smallest Fitbit tracker yet. But don't let this discreet “pebble,” designed to be worn on the wrist, fool you.

It packs advanced health tracking powered by high-fidelity sensors and supports the following:

  • 24/7 heart rate monitoring
  • Heart rhythm tracking with AFib alerts
  • Blood oxygen (SpO2) tracking
  • Resting heart rate and heart rate variability
  • Sleep stages and sleep duration tracking
  • Automatic activity detection and workout summaries

Users can also access deep health insights through the Google Health app, while the device stays screen-free to reduce distractions.

Designed to make fitness tracking more intuitive, users can do the following:

  • Start workouts directly from the app
  • Follow guided workouts from Google Health Coach
  • Automatically detect exercises and receive workout recaps
  • Log workouts manually anytime
  • Scan gym equipment or workout routines using AI-assisted logging

With use over time, Fitbit Air adapts to the user’s habits for more personalized tracking and recommendations. As such, it is built for continuous wear, including sleep tracking, with a lightweight and low-profile design.

Other highlights include:

  • Up to 7 days of battery life
  • Fast charging: a full day of power in five minutes
  • Screenless, distraction-free design
  • Seamless switching with Pixel Watch for daytime use and Fitbit Air for sleep

Design and bands

The Fitbit Air features a modular design with interchangeable bands, allowing users to switch styles easily by popping out the tracker.

The Performance Loop Band comes in four colors (Obsidian, Fog, Lavender, Berry) and is breathable, adjustable, made with recycled materials (included in-box).

The Active Band meanwhile is also available in same four colors, and features sweatproof silicone for intense workouts.

Finally, the Elevated Modern Band comes in three colors (Porcelain, Moonstone, Obsidian) and is decided to be the more stylish of the three. It has a bracelet-like design for everyday wear.

There is also a Special Edition Performance Loop Band, co-designed with Stephen Curry, featuring a sport-inspired design and water-resistant finish.

Price and availability

The Fitbit Air is compatible with both Android and iOS devices and is available for pre-order through the Google Store website, though the Philippines is not listed in the shipping address options.
