Metro Manila records its hottest temperature in 2019 at 36.6°C


Metro Manila's hottest temperature in 2019 peaked at 36.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon, according to PAGASA.

The temperature was recorded in PAGASA's Science Garden in Quezon City at 2:56 p.m.

The heat index that was felt in Metro Manila, on the other hand, reached 39°C.

Heat index or init factor was defined by the state weather bureau as the "human discomfort index that gives the 'apparent' temperature or what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affecting their body."

Hotter days are expected in May, according to PAGASA.

Meanwhile, the easterlies or the hot and moist winds coming from the Pacific Ocean continues is expected to bring isolated rains to some parts of the country on Monday.

The Bicol region, Visayas, and Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, on the other hand, may also have isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms. — Dona Magsino/BM, GMA News
