TD Falcon maintains strength, signal No. 1 over 3 areas

Tropical Depression Falcon has maintained its strength as it moves northwestward, PAGASA reported in its Severe Weather Bulletin issued late Monday evening.

Falcon, as of 10 p.m., was estimated at 855 kilometers east of Casiguran Aurora or 890 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph moving northwest at 30 kph.

Falcon may intensify into a Tropical Storm before approaching or making landfall over extreme northern Luzon on Wednesday afternoon or evening.

MIMAROPA, western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro will have light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Zambales, Bataan, and Mindoro provinces will have moderate to heavy rains due to the combined effects of Falcon and the enhanced southwest monsoon. Metro Manila, CALABARZON, western Visayas, and the rest of central Luzon and MIMAROPA will have light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains.

On Thursday, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan and Mindoro provinces will have moderate to heavy rains due to the enhanced southwest monsoon. Metro Manila, CALABARZON, western Visayas, and the rest of central Luzon and MIMAROPA will have light to moderate with occasional heavy monsoon rains.

The weather bureau warns residents in the affected areas, particularly those living in areas at risk of flooding and landslides, to take precautionary measures, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and to monitor updates.

Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out to areas under TCWS No. 1 and the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao.

The Tropical Depression is expected to be 295 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on Tuesday evening. — BAP, GMA News
