PAGASA officially declares onset of Amihan season

Colder daytime temperatures may be expected in the country after the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan season officially started, state weather bureau PAGASA said  Friday.

"Sa mga darating na linggo at buwan ay posibleng makakaranas na tayo ng mas malamig na temperatura, mga mahihinang pag-ulan pero hindi pa rin natin niru-rule out ang posibilidad ng bagyo sa Nobyembre at Disyembre," PAGASA weather specialist Chris Perez said in an interview on Dobol B sa News TV.

The official onset of Amihan season was declared on Thursday, he noted.

Amihan may be significantly felt this coming November to February next year.

"Una pong mararanasan muna 'yung colder early morning temperatures dito sa may bandang dulong hilagang Luzon dahil sa ngayon 'yun palang yung extent ng Amihan na nakikita natin," he said.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is being monitored by PAGASA.

It was spotted 1,395 kilometers east-southeast of Davao Del Sur.

"Kung pumasok man ito sa ating PAR, tumawid ng kalupaan ng ating bansa, more on the central at southern part po ng ating bansa," Perez said. — Dona Magsino/RSJ, GMA News
